do you think this is a good idea? Please help!?

do you think this is a good idea? a DIY wedding store where you go from station to station, like centerpiece supplies, then lighting, then cake forms, then invitations, reams of fabric, etc….There would be some fun unique extras like candelabras or fun cake toppers. People would go to each station to select what they like, write down the item, then I would order the amount they need at wholesale prices so i could guarantee at least 10% below retail prices. And…for a small fee, like each, I would put together the centerpieces. Maybe a consigned wedding attire part too? My thinking is that it will save people a lot of time and money.

    Honest opinions please!

Does anyone know any vendors and cites in or around the Rockford/Freeport, Illinois area?

We are hoping on a outdoor wedding with our reception inside. We would like the wedding and reception at the same location or very close to eachother (within walking distance). A hotel would be nice, but I don’t have a big budget at all. There will be close to 200 people (we already cut it down from almost 450 [only family and close friends]). We decided on a Friday night wedding & reception, which will be cheaper for many things but we can still have our dancing/party night :) . We are not serving a full meal, opting for appetizers and desserts instead. Some caterer ideas would be great too (especially for my cake). I have my flowers taken care of (I am making them myself), along with invitations and centerpieces. We are doing a unique guest book. I haven’t picked out my dress or bridesmaid dresses yet. Photographers with good price deals would be great if anyone has any ideas for me. I’m not really interested in purchasing any photo albums from them, I just want the rights to reproduce any and all of the pictures they take of my wedding/reception (if there is a deal that comes with albums and the copyrights all the better!). Any other vendors that you can think of that might be helpful to me would be wonderful. Thank you everyone for your help!

        What do yall think about…??

I want honest opinions here..like what would you think, if you showed up and saw this:

An ALL Dessert Reception??!! I am having a Saturday night Outside October Wedding in Texas. I’ll put on the invitations of course, "Dessert Reception to Follow". The "food" will be in a all glass pavillion, so I wont have to worry about anything melting or anything..This is what I’m thinking:

        1. Both Bride/Groom Cakes
        2. Candy Bar w/ personalized take home boxes for favors
        3. Build your own Sundae Bar
        4. An assortment of cookies, w/ old fashioned glass milk jugs
        5. Milk/White chocolate fountains, w/ a wide choice of dipping things (fruit, marshmellows, pretzels, etc..)
        5. Bite size pies/chessecakes (pecan, apple, pumpkin, assort. of cheesecakes)
        6. Fruit, cheese, cracker spread for those that don’t want "sweets"
        7. Coffee, Punch, Dessert Wine, Water, Milk w/ cookies

Honost opinions..I don’t want people to say, "Where’s all the food, I came to a wedding for FOOD!" I want UNIQUE!

Why do people criticize what is "different"?

I like unique, different modern styles.

My invitations are shimmery glitter paper with a postcard for RSVP. No extra envelopes needed. It folds onto itself and the monogram sticker keeps it closed. Nobody insulted me for that luckily.

People are being critical of my choice of month for wedding. It’s going to be late winter, so weather is iffy. It might rain, it might snow…the snow might be gray and slushy and the grass will be green.

I start looking at other people who are all getting married in the fall, then some in the summer, then a few in the spring, and I’m starting to get jealous. We can’t move the wedding now, it’s too late. Also it’s 12 days after my birthday. Not that it’s a big deal or anything. I really didn’t put too much thought in the wedding date as I wanted to get married sooner than later.

Can you talk some sense into me and tell me to stop caring about other people, and that it’s not a big deal that the wedding is not in the fall/summer?

I need to stop getting jealous, this is stupid.
*grass will be yellow not green

              Invitation wording problem…?

I have a bit of a unique question regarding invitation wording. My fiance’s dad has passed away but he really would like his dad’s name on the invitation and we’re having trouble figuring out how to word it.
It will be something along the lines of
              "Dr. and Mrs. Joe Smith
request the honor of your presence
at the wedding of their daughter
              (me) to (fiance)
              son of _____"
That’s where the problem lies. Neither of us like the sound of "son of Mr. and Mrs. John Doe" because it doesn’t mention his mom’s name and she’s basically single-parented for the last 7 yrs. But if we say "son of John and Jane Doe" is that too informal compared to my parents listing of Dr. and Mrs? Can we say "Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Doe?" Or should we list all the parents without any Dr./Mr./Mrs. titles?

We’re not too concerned with tradition and etiquette, we just don’t want it to sound bad.
Also, I already know that traditionally, you’re not supposed to list deceased parents, but we are. So please no comments about that. His dad is his dad regardless of whether or not he’s living.
Also, no "the late Mr. John Doe." My fiance doesn’t want that reference on an invitation that’s supposed to be happy.

              Thanks for the help!
Also, we’re having a formal wedding, so it’s okay (and probably best) for the invitation to sound formal.
All of our guests already know his dad has passed away. We absolutely will not be putting "the late" on there in reference to his dad.

                80's themed wedding ideas?

Hey guys! My guy and I are getting married in August 2014 (I know it’s a while off, but weddings are expensive!) We’re having an 80’s theme and we have a ton of cool ideas :

We’re hiring a bouncy castle and a giant slide (All in neon colours)
We have an ice-cream truck and a slush puppy machine.
We have a photo booth for a unique wedding guest book.
When we send our wedding invitations out we’re asking people to RSVP by sending a picture of themselves in the 80’s back, then we’ll use all the pictures in a slideshow during the reception.
Because it’s summer we have giant garden games including Connect 4, Snakes and Ladders, Twister and Jenga.
Of course we’re asking everyone to wear 80’s clothes, we also have a giant box of props (Inflatable guitars, glasses, neon jewelery and wigs etc.)
We’re using Rubix Cubes, Slinkys, Magic 8 Balls and Snap Bands as favours.
We also have giant movie posters to hang around our venue and we thought about having neon balloons in a big net above us to release as we have our first dance (Like in all the famous coming of age movies!)

Do you guys have any other ideas? I’d love to know what you think of my ideas and if there’s anything you’d add or change? Does anyone have any idea about food? We’re using retro sweets for our tables and as centrepieces, we have a 3 course traditional meal for our close family and friends. Later on we’ll be having a buffet for everyone else but I can’t think of any 80’s food or finger food!? Thanks so much! Any help is greatly appreciated :)
Carmen…A joke? No certainly not. We’re having a traditional ceremony. We’ll wear traditional wedding clothes for it and have pictures taken. We’ve been together for 9 years and engaged for 6. We’re just not a traditional couple. We see our wedding day as a party for all our loved ones. It’s not just about us! But thanks for your suggestion :)
Please…If you’re going to be negative, just don’t even comment. I’ve been really polite and I’m just asking for opinions. This is our theme and it’s not going to be horrible or nasty. Again…Thanks for your help! :) xx
When I said ’80’s food’ I meant food that was big in the 80’s…I KNOW that people ate the same kind of food that we eat now, I meant things like pineapple and cheese on sticks…That’s retro food. You don’t get that at parties now whereas when I was a kid we did! Also Slinkys had a boom in the 80’s because of NASA astronauts using them as a tool to teach kids how different things work in space. That’s why we’ve included them! :)

I’m trying to get invitations together for my wedding and on a sample invitation that I have it starts off with: "As unique as a seashell/As deep as the sea/as eternal as the waves/Our love is mean to be" (my ceremony will be on the beach and i have little beachy invitations…) its cute and all but i think its a little cheesey…anyone have anything that I can use to replace this? Thanks!!

                    your opinion please.. wedding?

OK so I’ve been trying to make my invites from scratch (I’m doing a half fold card with pockets on the inside, in the left pocket maps hotel info etc..and I’m going to make the invitation on the right side)
                    this is my inspiration http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3522/3218972064_25db503c26.jpg?v=0
but it’s so annoying. I found these today at office depot and it already has the pockets that i need and on the left pocket a business card slot.. I figured I’d print the R.S.V.P. card out on a business card.. like this http://img19.imageshack.us/my.php?image=rsvpqg2.png.
So they are great all i have to do is line them with my paper (to make it more unique)this paper

                    http://www.partydelights.co.uk/images/tissue/TISS46_lg.jpg

and decorate the outside for more personality (lots of rinestones and our crown and "B" monogram…
another plus is they are on sale so they are cheap and my fiance wanted to do black so i got them in black..

                    ANYWAYS my questions are…

1::: do you think it will look strange. seeing as how they are intended for business purposes.. and they are 4X9 so its tall would you think it strange to get an invitation that shape and with the insides like that?!?

                    2:::
how would I address the tall envelope?

oh and my colors are black and white with touches of pink and like a champagne gold color
